Spring in Rondebosch

Spring has sprung in Rondebosch, and the children's library is blooming. A Reading Tree has sprouted, and needs the help of 8- to 14-year-olds to grow. To find out how, do drop in and have a look!

The fairies are also out in full force. They've left a ton of fairy books for kids to read!

Please visit us to see these and other exciting developments, and, as always, feel free to leave a comment or suggestion.

More creativity

The adult library has also joined in the spirit of our theme. Check out these posters, and be amazed:

And, as visitors to the library should know, we have a stained glass window in the library, depicting the coat of arm of the (then) Rondebosch Municipality. We've decided to capture the history and combine it with practicality and creativity @ your library by making:

Library Week creativity

Here are some of the displays we've set up for SA Library Week. Just to remind you: Library Week is also fine-free week, and is the perfect time to return any overdue material to your library.

Friends of Rondebosch Library

On the last Saturday of each month (except December) our Friends of the Library host a book sale. All the books on sale are donations, and all proceeds go to improving the library and its services. The Friends are requesting donations of books - we welcome any kind of book, whether new, used or very used. All donations can be dropped off at the library's front desk. We appreciate the support we've received from our community, and ask that you continue to support us. Together, we can make a difference.

SA Library Week - 20-26 March 2011

SA Library Week is almost here, and we've taken the theme to heart:
Be Practical and Creative @ your library.
We've put up displays, are having our traditional tea, and introduced our first ever short story competition!
The tea starts at 10:00 on Wednesday 23 March 2011, and will offer an opportunity to mingle with like-minded people while having a yummy snack.
The short story competition is hosted by our Children's Library. Entries close on Friday 18 March 2011, and winners will be announced on Friday 25 March 2011.
Library Week is also Fine Free Week!
No fines will be charged on overdue material returned during Library Week. (All outstanding fines will, however, need to be paid.) If you or your family have library books that were due back months, or even years, ago, please don't be afraid to return them during this week. No questions asked, and no stern librarian looks given.

New Year in the Children's Library

The Rondebosch Children's Library is planning its best-ever year in 2011! We've given ourselves a little make-over with all-new displays and brand-new books. During S.A. Library Week we will be hosting a short story and poetry competition for the young ones. During the school holidays we will have our by-now traditional craft and story times for the tiny tots as well as the cool school bunch. Talk to us, share your ideas with us, and enjoy the experience at the Children's Library!
