Re-opening tomorrow

Good morning everyone,

the library will be re-opening on schedule tomorrow, 1 July 2009. It has been a very hectic month, but I think the results are worth it. The library is now clean and pretty again!

We will be updating the new books section soon, so watch this space.

New books!

Here are some of the books we received recently:

The Building

The library is situated in the old Rondebosch Town Hall, a building completed in 1898. Upstairs, one can still admire the original stained glass windows, depicting the coat of arms of the Rondebosch Municipality.

We are situated next to the Belmont Road bridge, outside the Rondebosch train station.

Temporary closing of the library

Good morning all,

the library will be closed from Monday, 22 June 2009 to Tuesday, 30 June 2009 for renovations. Be sure to stock up on reading material before then!

Saturday, June 6, 2009

What to expect:

At the Rondebosch Library, as at all the City of Cape Town Libraries, you may borrow 7 books at a time, for two weeks. You may also borrow 2 CDs for two weeks, and one video or DVD for 2 days. We also have some short loan items, like study guides, which may be borrowed for one week at a time.

You may renew your two-week items twice, telephonically if you like. Our phone number is 021 689 1100, and we just need the number printed underneath the barcode of your library card.

When we get new books, the bestsellers are often (usually) reserved immediately. To book your place in the queue, we charge R3.00. We would then notify you as soon as the book is ready for you.

Welcome to our blog!

Hi everyone.

This blog will focus on what's happening at the Rondebosch Public Library, situated in what used to be the Town Hall of the Municipality of Rondebosch. This is not an official City of Cape Town info page; we just want to let you know what's new, what's interesting and what's fun at the library.

We will try to keep this page updated with all the latest book releases, activities and news, but if you have any comments, please feel free to post them on this page.

We look forward to hearing from you!
